For an initial review, send clear overall photos plus close-ups of manufacturer labels, part numbers or nameplates when available. Include approximate quantity, city/state, condition and your preferred timing.
Preserve value: Keep identifiable equipment and unused material intact until it has been reviewed. Cutting, mixing or removing labels can make resale evaluation harder. As a rule of thumb: if it came in a box, keep it in the box; if it has a part number, keep the part number visible; and if you are unsure whether something is resale or scrap, photograph it with the resale lot and let the review decide.

That gap is the whole reason unused carbide gets its own review: identifiable, packaged tooling can go back into a shop and cut metal, while mixed or unmarked carbide can only be valued as material.

Manufacturer and part number are what separate a resale lot from a commodity lot. The brands shops ask for include Kennametal, Sandvik Coromant, Iscar, Seco, Valenite, Mitsubishi Materials, Tungaloy, Walter and Widia — but the list is not limited to big names. What matters is that the tooling is identifiable: maker, catalog or part number, grade designation and quantity.
For each part number, capture the manufacturer name as printed, the full part or catalog number, the grade or coating designation if shown, the quantity per box, and whether boxes are sealed or opened. Photograph the box labels straight-on — blurry label photos are the most common reason a review stalls.
Keep inserts in their original packaging. Do not decant boxes into bins, do not mix part numbers in one container, and do not peel labels. Packaging is provenance: it proves what the tooling is without testing.
Grade designations on the box — such as C2, C5 or C6 grades, or ISO codes like P, M and K with their numeric ranges — tell a reviewer what the insert was designed to cut. You do not need to decode them yourself; just make sure the grade marking appears legibly in the label photo. Lots with clear grade and coating information review faster than lots where the grade has to be guessed.

A cabinet that photographs in twenty minutes can be enough for an initial read. If the lot is large, Ironcrest will say whether a detailed count by part number is worthwhile before you spend the time.
